In the past week I did hour long classes of: Bootcamp, Kickboxing, and Zumba
I did the elliptical twice this week-the first time was for 75 minutes with my cool down and in 60 minutes I did about 6.5 miles. The other elliptical workout was on Sunday; I did 45 minutes and 3.5 miles but it was only shorter because the gym closed....they literally shut the lights off on me. Uncoool LA Fitness, uncool.
What IS working:
I do 5 flights of stairs 2x a day at work...
I'm counting calories again-with a focus on meeting calorie goals, not restricting calories.
1 small piece of dark chocolate a day keeps the cravings away!
water, water, water....and then some more water.
True story, when I'm feeling frustrated, hungry, tired, overwhelmed, I take a few minutes to read stuff on my healthy life pinterest board. It works, don't judge.

I'm feeling pretty darn positive about my progress and I'm happy to report that for the most part, getting back to watching what I eat, measuring portions, and working out more has really felt more like getting back to normal rather than hell, like it was last year.
I might even be changing gyms, which is super exciting. I'll report back on that next week!!!!

Woo hoo for progress!
ReplyDeleteI do the stairs in my building a couple of times a day and I swear, best workout ever! I agree about the dark chocolate too. And the water. Water, water, water.

Progress is good. Congrats! So after a while it does really start feeling like a lifestyle and not torture. I'll pin that to my wall at hope to motivate me.
ReplyDeletePS: those lights-turning-off gym people are seriously uncool. booo!

What Lola Wants
Way to go on your progress! I never thought about a calorie goal versus calorie restrictions. It makes it much more appealing, not constraining. I am starting a wholesome diet: just eating healthy, as close to natural as possible food, and for once, cutting out sugar, completely, well, except for the occasional cheat day. I have to earn it though. I expect stumbling blocks along the way, but I want to find out what life is like without so much sugar and sweet dependence. I hate being dependent on anything, especially something that can have an affect on my health considering the amount I actually consume on any given day. There is such a thing as "too much"! Can't wait to see you reach your goal! -Jess
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Lori!!! ;D You're doing such an amazing job! I'm going to the garage to run on the treadmill right now. Ever since I started working I stopped working out 5 days a week to ... 1 or 2 days, shame on me! I need to find the time and energy!
